FAQs
Do you take insurance?
We do! Click to see which insurances we accept at this time.
Where are you located?
We are in the beautiful North Valley of Albuquerque, NM. We also do telehealth, which helps us to see people farther away in New Mexico.
How long should I expect to be in therapy?
It varies widely. Some clients meet with their therapist for several months, and some meet for a year or more, depending on the level of care needed, and progress made. Our goal is to help you as much as you need, for as long as you need to reach your goals, and to help you graduate from therapy when the time is right. We will discuss what’s going on with you, work on understanding it, and work together to find your solutions.
What do I need to know about couples therapy?
Couples therapy is about working with you both where you’re at. One person is the primary client, so there is focus on the therapeutic needs of that person, in relation to how you two work together. However, most couples therapists think of the relationship as the client. We bring both people in, listen to your needs, and help you find your way forward — whatever that looks like for you. It’s vital to the process that you both feel heard, and the focus is balanced. The Gottman Method is the basis for most of our couple’s therapy. Whether you are dealing with everyday issues or much bigger traumas and ruptures, there is an evidence-based structure to Gottman therapy. The idea is to help you find a healthy relationship communication, and to eventually work ourselves out of a job — so that you can use these skills on your own. We can also help with discernment, to see if the relationship is viable for both of you. We can also aid in creating more positive separation experiences, if needed.
What’s the process for getting started?
We ask that you contact us, HERE, to find out if we’re a good match therapeutically. We generally take low-to-medium acuity clients at this level of care. We will discuss how you want to pay (insurance coverage vs. self pay) and work to find you a therapist who can begin to see you in a reasonable amount of time. Then, you’ll receive intake paperwork and be in touch with your therapist to schedule.
